March 2011 "in your Home State" Contest - Place your photos in this thread

Quote:
Rules To The "In Your Home State" Monthly Contest

Post your pictures in the appropriate thread.

Please read the appropriate DISCUSSION THREAD to be up to date before posting. You may post as many photographs in the discussion thread but the actual contest thread
is limited.

The theme in the "In Your Home State" is photographs which you took of your state for U.S.A. entries or your country for those outside the U.S.A.

All photographs must have been taken within 30 days of the date you submitted them. The contest will end at the end of the month.

To be able to stay on a monthly schedule, the last day for submitting entry photographs will be five days before the end of the month, ie, if the month ends on the 30th then photos must be submitted no later than the 25th. If the month ends on the 31th then photos must be submitted no later than the 26th. Etc...

(NOTE I HAVE JUST CHANGED THE THREE DAY TO FIVE DAY)

The poll will be opened the day after last day for submitting entry photographs.

Two photographs per contest and one vote per member. You may not vote for yourself.

If desired you may add your ©copyright signature to your photograph when sharing over the internet.

Please add your title and any information that you want to share. We do enjoy knowing

You have 90 minutes to alter your post. If you need help with the title or information, just DM me Poncho_NM and I will fix it for you.

Do not use the entry thread for discussions. There is a separate thread to be used for discussions.

If you have an suggestions, you may DM me Poncho_NM .

My husband grew up just up in one of the houses in the back ground in this photo. Shelburne Falls Ma..the Glacial Potholes. When the water recedes or they get the flash boards back up I will take photos of the actual pothole formations. The color of the rocks are just spectacular.

Pipers Parade: Another big event in Massachusetts, the most Irish of the states, is St. Patrick's Day. Boston's annual parade is held in the heavily Irish enclave of South Boston, where residents take particular pride that the same day, March 17, is also Evacuation Day. On that date in 1776 George Washington's Continental Army took control of Dorchester Heights in South Boston, prompting the British to evacuate Boston, of which they never regained control.

Center Ice: While much of the country is obsessed with college basketball in March, a lot of people in Massachusetts are watching college hockey. The Hockey East conference, which has produced the last 3 NCAA champions and 5 of the 6 runners-up before that, just held its annual tournament at BC's TD Garden. In this picture from the semi-finals, two players from the University of New Hampshire are playing keepaway with a player from runner-up Merrimack College. Boston College, the defending Hockey East and national champion, defeated Merrimack to win the tournament the next night.

Default Arrogantly Shabby

The official motto of Pawleys Island SC, the town's laid-back atmosphere is reflected in the numerous old oceanfront beach homes such as this one. A number of them date back to pre-Civil War days.

Ridgway Colorado State Park this morning looking south at the lake and toward the San Juan Mountain Range. 5 minutes from my home. The lake freezes over in winter, and has just thawed. Taken 03/23/2011 with Fuji FinePix S1000.
