Hey there Phoenix residents. I'm visiting the Phoenix area for the first time this weekend.

I'll be staying at a hotel in Peoria- on the west side of Phoenix. I've been told the best place to see an abundant amount of saguaro cacti is the White Tank Mountain Regional Park, which is not too far from Peoria.

Has anyone visited the White Tank Mountain Regional Park?

Is there a price for admission?

Where can you park your car?

Are you free to roam wherever you want?

In order to be let into the park- What do you need to say and/or present at the entrance gate?

Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks guys!

it's $6 per car and you just need to drive in

if you want there are free trailheads in the Verrado community that can give you a taste of the park

there are definitely saguaros there - this weekend may be a pretty good time to visit that park - if you go back far enough there may still actually be water on the waterfall trail

you'll also get to see a lot of examples of native wildlife in their natural environment - along with petrogliths, etc

should be relatively green with all the rain we've had

Are the hiking-only trails off-limits to ordinary pedestrians like me?

I'm thinking about taking the Waterfall Trail all the way to the end.

Easy hike back to waterfall. Less than 1 mile. Average person can do it.

Yep - the waterfall trail is really easy to get to (trailhead is right next to one of the earlier parking lots) - it's about a mile, mainly flat - when you get towards the back there can occasionally be some water that you may need to get over in order to get your head around to the angle where the water actually comes down the rocks

in AZ it's never a guarantee there will actually be a waterfall - but when there is it's pretty neat
