It was total shock value. I drove that thing at night and if it weren't for my xenon headlights, it would have been even scarier. Those roads are extremely windy as in French alps windy at times except that there is very little light. And we left late at night so we didn't hit the traffic in Globe. If we had, it would have been even worse. The Payson route is a no brainer. Even if I lived in East Mesa, I would drive west to reach Country Club and then go north on that all the way up the Bee line. The 4 lane aspect of the Payson route is enough of a selling point versus the 2 lane status of taking the SRC/Globe route
