We're relocating to the Phoenix area in a few weeks (Queen Creek) and I have a question about the utility companies. I keep seeing ads for houses that mention they are or are not serviced by different utility companies. Is there one electric company that is better than the other? One water utility thats better than the other ? Etc. Etc.

Thanks

I live down the road in Florence and Johnson Utilities is my water/sewer service. Their rates are outrageous. My latest bill breakdown was as follows:
Water minimum: $27
Privelege Taxes, License Fees: $6.61
Usage: $20.75

Here is the sewer breakdown:
Sewer service: $38.50
Privilege tax, License Fees: $5.27

As you can see, if you use NO WATER at all, your bill will still be $75 or so.

As far as electric, I have APS and their rates seem to be higher than SRP as well. Also, since you will be in Queen Creek, you will probably have to pay for Rural Metro fire. I believe that is around $50/month. Be sure to look into the HOA fees that your particular development will likely levy.
