Do residents of towns like Peoria, Surprise, commonly have coyotes around their yards? I'm considering a move there - from New England and wonder. Thanks

I live in NE Scottsdale and have come across Coyotes, Bobcats, wild pigs ( havalenas?) and yes....snakes ( in the summer ) I am not too suprised in my encounters only b/c the area has developed a lot in the last couple of years and has taken over their territory. You should really research the area and see what new construtcion is going on and how far you will be from mountains, etc.

I have seen a couple running down the street here around the 67th Ave and Happy Valley area. I've never seen or heard of coyotes in people's yards though, just out on the street.

I've seen them where I live too. Mostly jogging down the street at night. They look like ghostly, elusive creatures. I have seen them cross busy roads like Shea in northeast scottsdale for years. Poor little guys are looking for a home.

We're in Surprise and have seen them around, but not necessarily in our yard. In our subdivision and nearby, but no...not actually in our yard.

Any area on the outside, Surprise, North Scottsdale, sections of Northeast Mesa, Queen Creek ect.... you could run into wild life. If you are coming from New England it really isn't much different than living near the woods where the same can happen. Just be careful if you have small pets at night.

BTW, I have seen rattle snacks in Connecticut, they are everywhere it seems.

I’ve seen coyotes come into the neighborhood from the mountain preserve nearby. They are or can be anywhere in the cities of the metro area. Are they a problem? Not all of the time, but they do enjoy eating cats and little dogs. I had a desert fox trying to live in the back yard under some bushes. After seeing him several different days as he came and went, I figured a way to motivate him to move elsewhere. Normally these animals are not a problem and in 25 plus years I can remember only 4 or 5 occasions of seeing them around the house or in the neighborhood.

On the bright side of things coyotes keep the stray cat problem under control!

don't come to fountain hills, the coyotes roam in packs--literally 10-12 of them in a pack, killing nightly. The javelina pigs are awful too. I think the coyotes are everywhere.

Fountain Hills has the same problem that other “outer city” areas have ~ they’re too close to where wildlife live and too far out of the main city areas. I’ll bet most of the people who live out there chose to be away from the city proper and be more rural. I always thought I’d enjoy living there however I didn’t want to drive into Phoenix to work each day.
