Grasshoppers have invaded my backyard...when will they go away and can they kill my palms which are now apparently their new home?

I don't know about palm trees, but we get a lot out here, but with 4 cats and two dogs they keep my pets entertained and the population down. I have been seeing less and less of them. We srpay the yard with ortho though, and that does kill them.

I have an organic yard and there are more HUGE green ones in the back yard, common brown
ones in the front. The backyard ones are like 3 inches long. Huge. They were mating the other day. Foolish me, I took pix instead of killing them. DUH! lol They do eat leaves and such. They've been eating my
basil and grapeleaves. Haven't eaten anything else though, that I can see. Maybe they're too full?

How about eating them? Grasshoppers are an excellent source of nutrition, low fat and high protein. Put out some traps, fry'em up and enjoy!
