I have heard that there are a lot of retirees in the Apache Junction area. Is this true? Is it a good place to retire or semi-retire. I'm wondering if there are nice mobile parks for 55 and older. Any where you own the land too?

Thank you!

I've never heard of AJ being referred as a good retirement city. There are good trailer parks for 55+ all over the valley I'm sure.

One thing is for sure, I wouldn't retire to AJ.

I don't know about "nice" trailer parks but I can definitely say there are a LOT of trailer parks. Hubby and I were in AZ a couple weeks ago house hunting and had a couple houses we wanted to look at in AJ. We drove past trailers by the hundreds to find the houses.

I would say it's a decent retirement city, not the best, but not bad. My parents have a house in AJ right on the East Mesa border and they live in a nice, clean, well kept 55+ community with gorgeous views of the Superstition Mountains. They are not far from lakes and scenic drives. There are quite a few 55+ mobile home parks out there too- some nice and some not so nice.

Personally, I really like it out there. They are not retired yet and they would rather retire in Maricopa or Laughlin to be closer to the casinos.

Apache Junction isn't as bad as it is made out to be. Sure, if I had my choice, I may go to another city, but it has a lot of growth, and has made a lot of strides in the last ten years.

So - what is it exactly that some of you do not care for about Apache Junctin.

I paid my first visit to this area in Sept 08 and second visit in Oct 08 - Roadhaven Resort, Apache Junction, and absolutely fell in love with not only this amazing 55 plus park - but the entire area.

Going back this October for 2 weeks - this will enable us to make a decision on whether this is th spot for us to retire or not.

Any comments - greatly appreciated ~Leigh

My wife and I live in East Mesa, close to the boarder of AJ, and we love going out there. It is really peaceful and the scenery is fantastic. I can understand why some people arent particularly gushing with their praise for the place, but judging by a lot of other comments on these pages, i think some post for the sake of posting and rely on what they've heard rather than what they know.

Going up towards Canyon Lake and beyond is some of the best scenery in the area (i've not seen everywhere, as i'm new to AZ but from what i've seen!). I cant comment too much on the resorts you've mentioned, but my wife is a Realtor and knows people who have either spent time vacationing there or work there, and they seem to hold it in equally high regard.

I really hope AJ still has the same appeal for you this time as it did last year!
