Hi everyone, I am considering getting a place off of Hardy Dr & Guadalupe in South Tempe. I'm a single Mom with two small kids and want to make sure it's a safe place to live. What are your opinions? Should I be worried that it's so close to Guadalupe which, according to Neighborhoodscout.com has high crime rates? Thank you!

Not really a rough area, the area around the mall there has an elevated amount of property crimes and theft, it's just a little more working class and the areas to the South are a bit more upscale. If you can find something South of Elliot that will put you in a better school district but that area you are looking is not too bad.

I personally wouldn't want to live that close to Guadalupe. It really isn't dangerous it's just really run down (drive through there and you'll see). The area you're looking in isn't bad but south of Elliot like mentioned above would be much better if your finances allow and the area is much nicer and your kids will be in the Kyrene School District which is highly regarded. Are you renting?

Guadalupe Rd is the dividing line between Tempe Elementary and Kyrene Schools. If she is between Guadalupe and Elliot it will be Kyrene Schools. I have lived in the subdivision just south of Guadalupe off Kyrene ( there is also an entrance to it on Hardy) for 20 years and nothing has ever happened. Its completely safe and you never have to drive through the town of Guadalupe to go anywhere. I use Kyrene or Hardy to Baseline to I-10 or Kyrene to Grove Parkway to Elliot to I-10.
