Someone told me this will be an hour and a half in rush hour. One of us is going to work in cave creek and one of is on 2 W Vernon Ave. If that is going to really be that far of a drive can someone help me find another area that would work better for both?

It's not 1 1/2 hours, probably more like an hour. It's smooth sailing on I-17 until you get to about Greenway/Thunderbird and then it gets busy.

If the other person works in Cave Creek then that seems like a good location as they can take Dove Valley Rd east. Anything further south and they would have to take 101 east and then Cave Creek Rd north and that's no fun, you'd both have traffic to deal with...at least this way only one person has to deal with it really.

We also considered central scottsdale so that one could take "back roads" up to cave creek. and then vernon road would be closer. but idk if that would be any better or not

Such as 9494 E Redfield Rd, Scottsdale to 2 W vernon, phoenix

That's not "central Scottsdale" to me, but it doesn't matter. North Scottsdale address to the Phoenix work address could be just as long as the hour coming down I-17. Shea Blvd is busy, Hwy 51 can back up too. Commute time can vary from day to day, and by the exact time you are leaving.

I'd look in North Phoenix, something with easy access to the 51

Good idea. That way you cut out the travel time TO the 51.

To the OP, that drive is a 45 min - 1 hour drive in traffic. I used to live literally across the street from Canyon Crossroads (but that was before the I-17 / Dove Valley Rd. interchange opened. I'd agree it's only about 30 minutes in no traffic.

You are proposing to stay fairly close to Carefree and have one of you commute to midtown. If you reversed the situation and stayed near midtown the commute to Carefree would be opposite to the flow of traffic and be much quicker.

Yea San Carlos is what im talking about. Did you like it?

Another office we could end up in would be 428 S gilbert rd, gilbert. Which will be even farther. That is were i am considering San Carlos as the halfway point for the two if us to cave creek and gilbert. It is a real bummer we have jobs so far apart but nothing we can do about it but make the best of it. Thats where you guys come in because Im sitting in South Dakota trying to figure out apartments that will make the commutes for us not as intense.

I have posted a few times about similar things the last few weeks. But i really like getting all the input for everyone to help me with finding what will be the least stress on both of us. Thank you so much for all your insights.

I do agree that living closer to midtown or gilbert would be better and the reverse commute to cave creek shorter than the other way around.
