I searched and didn't find much for the Phoenix area specifically. We just purchased a house and are thinking about purchasing an alarm system as it seems most houses have them. I've heard to try a reputable local company over the heavily contract based national company like ADT. Although I'm not sure if this is entirely true for all instances. I'd love to hear recommendations or reasons to get/not get a home security system? And any experience you have with these systems including monthly prices or installation costs.

We had ADT for several years and then switched to the local company Bulwark Security. Cheaper and much better and more personalized service. Can't recommend Jeff Monson enough, I think he runs the place and he was super helpful in the setup of my system and came out to my house and helped me personally. Can't say enough good things about them. They had the best reviews on Angies List, Kudzu and Yelp when I got them a couple years back.

Obviously the reason for an alarm is for peace of mind. Usually around $30 per month for monitoring. I would recommend Bonds for a good local company.

Yea looked into them and reviews still see very high. Thanks. Did you have to install yourself?

If you install it yourself, only pay around $10 a month for phone monitoring ($20 for cell monitoring).

The hardware is inexpensive. $120 will get you a nice LCD panel, siren, batt back-up. Add $20 per wireless door sensor, $45 got glass break, $45 for motion. All wireless.

My guy charged me $20 an hour to install. Installation cannot possibly take 6 hours total. So that's a max install price of $120. DM if you need his number. I'm a technical geek. This guy is talented.
