Just moved here and looking for things going on around the valley. Where I moved from, there was a great weekly magazine that highlighted local events from arts and craft shows to live music to pet events, etc. They also did restaurant and bar reviews and just great coverage of in general of stuff to do and see. Is there a mag or website here like that?

Here is the website of the one from my old hometown for reference:

I think the Phoenix New Times is what you're looking for.

I subscribe to Phoenix Magazine. It's a monthly publication. It seems to be pretty good!

Yes, New Times is what you're looking for. It's owned by the Village Voice. It covers most everything going on in the area, and has interesting blogs and new items.

For downtown/central Phoenix, there's also this:

What’s Happening | Downtown Phoenix

Click on the "what to do" dropdown for events, dining guide, etc. When you are downtown, you can pick up the weekly event in several places.

Is that a paper publication or web? If it is paper, where do I find it?

It was paper when I lived there but I do not know if they still print it too. They are on the web now.

It's both online and in print. It's one of those that you find on racks by the front doors of random businesses. Their website should have everything you need though. I particularly like their restaurant section.

Perfect. I'll look for that. I prefer a print version, I can have it in the car more readily available.

Thanks!

Sort of. The founders of the New Times expanded to several other cities and bought the Village Voice. The company took the Village Voice name and became Voice Media Group. Michael Lacey and the other original folks sold Voice Media Group in 2012.
