House looks decent enough in the pics and on google street view. AZCentral's crime map didn't pull anything up in the last 6 months that worried me. Any thoughts on the area?

I don't know the specific neighborhood but that is in Maryvale, which does not have a good reputation.

That is by no means Central Phoenix. West Phoenix.

Uggggh, I'm getting so stressed out looking for a house. I'm trying hard to avoid the ghetto, I'd really like to be in Tempe, but our budget can't afford a rent over $900. The only things I can find are in the "bad reputation" areas. Going to go pull my hair out real quick.

Yep, that's deep in the heart of Maryvale.

Just did a quick glance on Craigslist, you may be able to find something in a better part of town if you go to North Phoenix.

I've found a couple in North Phoenix that don't look too bad. What about Avondale?

Have you tried HotPads.com? How many bedrooms? 2 bedroom in Tempe under 900 is doable but it will take a lot of hunting.

Looking for a 3 bedroom, need to be in a house though vs. an apartment. I have a dog who barks quite a bit and has gotten me in trouble at my last apartment.

According to MLS, there are a total of 457 single family detached homes in the Phoenix area with 3 bedrooms under $900/month. As for Tempe, it literally looks like there is ONE house available. It's $850, built in 1961, 3 bed 1 bath but only 1 small dog allowed for an additional $10/month. The address is 1124 W 10TH ST Tempe, AZ 85281.
