Hi! Looks like we are relocating to Phoenix metro this summer. Hubby will be working in Phoenix on sort of the west side of the city. We are hearing Goodyear or Scottsdale would be nice places to live from his future coworkers. My biggest question is what specific elementary schools in either Goodyear or Scottsdale do you recommend? I have of course read the information on greatschools.org and other online resources, but I would love a true insiders perspective on best elementary schools since we have a child who will begin kindergarten in the fall. We will be purchasing a home in the mid 200 range and are very flexible with housing - we just need someone to point us in the direction of some amazing schools. Would also love feedback on how Goodyear schools compare to Scottsdale schools (Goodyear closer to hubby's work but he is willing to commute to/fro Scottsdale if we need to for better schools).

THANKS!

Scottsdale is to far and may be out of your price range. How about looking at N. Glendale or N. Peoria. Good schools and houses in your price range(maybe) without a far commute. Don't know much about Goodyear.

Lots in that price range in Goodyear, not so sure in Scottsdale. The Litchfield Elementary District (north of the 10) has somewhat better schools than the other district that covers Goodyear (Avondale Elementary District). There are some charter schools in the area that have great reviews.

We live in Goodyear and have been very happy here.

If your husband's job is on the west side of the valley, Scottsdale is not a good choice for you, as it's on the east side of the valley. There are plenty of wonderful communities and good schools on the west side to choose from within your price point. Scottsdale housing is more expensive than most communities in the valley.

THank you all for your quick responses and advice. Within Goodyear, what are considered the "best" elementary schools? Thank you!

Estrella Mountain is a highly rated elementary in Goodyear. It is in the Estrella development which is in far south Goodyear away from the rest of the city, so there may be a convenience/commute factor to consider. http://www.estrella.com/

Since I live in the southern part of Goodyear, in another district, I can't tell you which specific schools are the "best" in the Litchfield Elementary School District but can say that district has a better reputation then the district that covers our home. Maybe greatschools.com can help you narrow it down?

As Ponderosa mentioned, and I had forgot about, there is a third elementary school district (Liberty) which has Estrella Mountain Elementary which has a good reputation.
