The location you listed on Deer Valley is not a bad area, there are a lot of hotels in that area, but is in the northern part of town so it depends on what you plan to do when you're in town.

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to see as much as the North and NE Phoenix area as I can to help decide if I want to relocate there. Also, I want to explore the desert around Phx. Any suggestion on where to stay and what to see would be appreciated.

PS do I need to raise my ceiling above $70 per night to find a clean and safe hotel/motel to stay during my visit?

If you want to see some of the desert than staying more north would be a good idea, you could even go as far as Happy Valley, this would give you easier access to head out to Lake Pleasant, you can take a drive around the lake and see a lot of nature and the scenery.

I did a quick search on Google and found some hotels in the northern phoenix area that are in good areas:

Days Inn Phoenix North
21636 North 26th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85027

Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix North/happy Valley‎
1940 West Pinnacle Peak Road

Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Deer Valley‎
20221 N. 29th Avenue

Budget Suites Of America‎
2702 West Yorkshire Drive

I am not sure of the prices on these, but I know Days Inn is usually a cheaper hotel to stay at.

If you're looking to explore the areas around N and NE phoenix these are both centrally located to that area.
