The 2000 census shows Chandler with a population of 176,581, including 7,567 people who identified themselves as Asian. The 2010 census shows Chandler with a population of 236,123, with 19,401 Asians.

That's great. The more racial diversity here the better. It makes our metro area more of a welcoming place, and more like other older more established metro areas in the country.

There is no surprise at all because most Asian worked in the hitech industry. You will find this in the bay area, Portland, Austin, Boston and now in Chandler.

Fitting given the Asian market complex on off of Dobson. They even have a boba cafe.

Intel invites a lot of asians (mostly from china) to work for them directly (L visa) and inderectly.. They work like 10 hours per day, get paid 4-5 times less, get one shared car per 4 families, free apartment.. work for one year, then go back to china. For them it is not bad deal. This story may be old I spoke with those chinese year ago (the same time couple of my friends was laid off from intel).

There's a good place in Peoria called Pholicious.

There's a place next to Lee Lee's in Chandler but I've never been.

This is not true. Most of the Asians are those who have their green card or are being sponsored. The majority of them remain in the Valley and raise families here.

Yes, it approaches 10% which is the highest of any city in Arizona and that number is only increasing.
