I am looking to move into the doylestown area and found a house my family and I all love, and we have family friends only two homes away on the same street. We looked into the house and discovered they are building the 202 parkway behind the house, its close but not very close. The limit of disturbance is about 100-150ft away from the home and the backyard, but the Right-Of-Way hits a corner of the fence in the backyard. They are keeping trees in the backyard because it is a wetland with a small creek and also to reduce noise. What we are woried about is since the Right-Of-Way is very very close to the backyard(which is about half an acre) we are concerned about Penndot eventually making the 2-lane Parkway into a 4-lane Expressway. Also the parkway will be at a point where it will be sloping down because it will be passing under a road near the house. We are a family of 5(3 kids 2 adults). Is it worth the risk? Would they be able to, and would they ever turn the parkway into a 4-lane expressway? Or would they leave it a 2-lane parkway and preserve the wetland behind the backyard of the house?

Contact Bucks County or any local realtor for more information. They've been talking about that bypass for the past 10 years or so. I've talked to many who say it will never happen. I moved away from the area 5 years ago so I'm not on top of what is going on.

I think we might do that if we go to see the house. They are in the process of building the two-lane parkway now and it should be done by late 2011, so its definitely happening

I personally wouldn't risk it unless you bear in mind you will pay less for the home and will most likely get less if and when you go to sell it...they may not expand that highway for 20 years but it's always going to be there if and when you would like to sell...

I would pass on the house as well. Highways do not make good neighbors.

Do yourself a favor and buy another home...OR...get this one at at TREMENDOUS MARK DOWN. I did a number of appraisals several years ago for people who were going to be losing some of their property to the state and it wasn't a pretty picture. Further, it will be so much more difficult for you to resell your home, if you ever want to, with all of that going on at the back. In this market you have plenty of choices. Find another home...you'll be glad that you did.

I think the project is already underway.
