Does anyone know if it is difficult to find a parking spot if riding the train downtown at the Conshohocken Train Station? What time should I be there to get a spot?

The train schedule says it takes about 33 minutes to arrive at Market East Station, and is it close to on time?

I don't know anything about the parking...but I can say that the Regional Rail trains are pretty reliable. One exception might be during the fall when slippery leaves on the tracks slow down some trains a bit.

Most of those stations fill up pretty quickly. Not sure when you'd have to go to find a space.

I'm curious what happened to those commuters that drove all the way to the Conshy station and found that there were no more parking space. Wouldn't that be frustrating? Why don't they build a parking garage that can accommodate reasonable number of commuters? I can only imagine the demand for the parking space at the train station increasing and not the other way around. If not enough parking space, going green initiative is impossible. Duh...

They look for parking nearby, they go to another station, they drive in. Is it frustrating? Everytime, but usually doesn't happen after you know what to expect at the station.

Why don't they build a parking garage to accommodate? Well, they already did, these lots were holding commuters for years and years and have recently become much more full. I think you mentioned being from New Jersey? Hopefully you are familiar with Hamilton Station, a new station, they had flat parking that was consistently full with nowhere to park after a certain time and it go so bad they built a sizable parking garage. But Hamilton, unlike the vast majority of the Regional Rail stations does not sit in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Most areas do not want that type of eyesore. Attempts to do that have been blocked most times. So, while its a shame, its understandable, people wouldn't want to move to these towns as much if they weren't concerned with these eyesores.

You should do a test run to the station of your choice to see what happens at what time. This is my serious suggestion. Personally, I'd rather blow off a bit of time and figure it out than get frustrated on the day when I have to be somewhere at a specific time and inevitably be angry and late that day. So, if you are planning to take an 8am train, then I would say around 7am, get some coffee, go and hang out in your car at the station and figure out what time those last 15-20 spots get filled and plan accordingly. I know a ton about when to get parking at the stations I use (not Conshy or R6 line), but that's stuff I've learned over time and its changed as there have been more commuters over the years.

If you tell us where you're coming from we can probably help you out with an alternative station or route.

33 minutes is correct. Trains are usually on time. When they are late it's by 2 or 3 minutes. Once or twice a year there might be a major meltdown (downed wires, signal problems, etc) on one of the other lines that causes delays throughout the system but the R6 is one of the more reliable lines.

many stations have had full parking lots for decades. they're trying to build one in jenkintown-wyncote and the neighborhood is fighting it. I don't buy the eyesore aargument, some people just fight everything. a lot of these stations aren't in residential areas but in commercial areas (like norristown which has a garage and coshohocken). SEPTA has never had an adequate capital budget, unlike NJT (though there's is running out) and I don't think SEPTA is allowed to enter into PPP's.

I agree that Norristown and Conshohocken could maybe do a few levels. But that's two examples, the vast majority do sit in residential areas. I wouldn't put multilevel parking complexes in most of those areas. Jenkintown, I've always thought could comfortably put in one level and not make it an eyesore in that area while doubling the daily parking lot.

Jenkintown has not been full for decades. Its been busy, but up until a few years ago, you could comfortably get parking if you got there by 9am, that's no longer the case. Was the lot full eventually? Yes, that has been the case for years, but most people who wanted parking could get it if they were traveling during rush hour up until the last several years.

With the number of trains that pass through there Jenkintown should probably have a garage - the problem is that a lot of the roads around there can't handle the traffic as it is and with that train station you could have 100 people getting off the train and trying to get out of the garage every 15 minutes for a few hours every afternoon.
