I'm a 24yr old female trying to do more research into what neighborhood of Philly would be right for me. I'd like somewhere close to public transportation, good restaurants and bars, shopping, rent around $1000, really can't go over that. I might have one roommate though, so that could up it a bit. I want to make sure I'm out of the "college scene" but not looking for a quiet neighborhood. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you working? If downtown, then you could possibly get a 1BR for $1000 and definitely split a decent 2BR for less than that. As Center City is a walkable two square miles, you're never far from any neighborhood. However, Old City and Northern Liberties are the epicenter of nightlife these days so you may enjoy that area the most.

The "post-college scene" is said to go on in Manayunk, a few miles NW of downtown.

I would say to avoid Northern Liberties. In my experience, I feel like it's a little more removed from Center City as its not a nice walk from Old City to Northern Liberties, also, it's described as an "up and coming" neighborhood, so unless you are planning to stay a while, I would look else where. I would try Graduate Hospital, Rittenhouse Square, Washington Square West, Bella Vista, or Queen Village. Basically all Center City neighborhoods. I live in WSW and am similar in age to you. Let me know if you have any more questions.
