Is there any areas in or around the Philadelphia area (including outside) that are safe to live in in the $125,000 price range?

It is just me, my wife and our 2 dogs. No little kids.

Thank you.

The Port Richmond and Bridesburg neighborhoods in the near northeast part in the city( I don't mean areas like Mayfair which also may be an option ,Wissinoming which I really wouldn't recommend, Tacony which is so-so etc.-that is the lower Northeast, that's a totally differant section alltogether) may have some homes in your desired price range and are relatively safe. Parts of South Philadelphia may have a few options as well. Most of the other safe sections in the city and most of the burbs tend to be a little more expensive than what you are asking for. There are many other neighborhoods in the city that are cheaper but there is no way I would advise you to look there. Those areas are not safe.

I agree with the Port Richmond comment. (I'm also not familiar with the other areas mentioned.) They removed a hospital and a fire station from there and I think that place is slowly going downhill, and I feel the attitude and warmth of the school when I was there represents part of this downfall. There's this claim from one of the locals that it's going to revitalize and that rich people are going to push out the blue collars, but I don't think anyone really knows for sure what's going to happen down the line. I don't get a good feeling when I've been there though personally.

What part of Port Richmond are you talking about ? Is it east or west of Aramingo Ave.? The east side of Aramingo still seems pretty decent but if it is to the west I agree that the area has somewhat gone downhill and can be sketchy in spots. By the way , many people like myself consider west of Aramingo being in Kensington as oppossed to Port Richmond.
