I just hope these late polls are motivators for people to vote and vote strategically. At this point a vote for Domb or Brown is a vote for Gym. I’m a big fan of Domb and at some points was leaning toward voting for him but now I think people should choose between Rhynhart or Parker because it seems like they’re the only realistic options to stop Gym.

If Gym gets elected, then it's things getting worse.

But I wouldn't give up hope yet.

Yes, mayoral primaries usually have low turnout, and if that's the case this year, then Gym probably wins.

But with many candidates vying for the Black vote — and I strongly suspect that Gym performs weakest among that segment of the Philly electorate — and with Cherelle Parker polling strongly among that same group, we could see higher-than normal turnout in some heavily Black parts of the city, especially the Northwest, where she lives.

High Black turnout, I suspect, will produce a Parker victory. And I could live with that. She has the best take on public safety IMO of the major candidates.

I was all set to shift my vote from Domb to Rhynhart. But if Parker polls highest next to Gym heading into the vote, I'll go with her.

Anything but Gym.

Parker, Rhynhart and Gym are essentially tied in every poll. In my opinion, I’d just pick the one of the three that you like the most because they have equal chances right now.

I'm praying that somehow, there is a consensus pick that emerges between the three of them so we can avoid a Gym Administration.

I'm going with whomever is leading among the three of 'em.

Ultra-progressive? Sure. Borderline socialist? Debatable with Sanders at least. Communist? That's quite a stretch and sounds like a right-wing media talking point.

Okay, so I guess I meant they think they're communists without having to do hard labor. Sorry for the confusion. They obviously wouldn't be for it if they knew they could no longer be professional activists

Let's examine some statements from Gym regarding economic policy:

The amount of buzzwords and meaningless moral gestures these people can pack into a sentence is astounding. And the most important thing: It never ever has anything to do with making the lives of Philadelphian's better. It doesn't pick up the trash. It doesn't stop drug dealers from setting up shop outside of schools or subway stations. It doesn't do anything. It's Jim Kenney/Bill DeBlasio 2.0, all equity and rainbows of white privilege happiness

I think you're making legitimate points. There's certainly important merits to general progressive ideals like equality and fundamental opportunities regardless of any personal characteristic.

The breakdown occurs when there's lofty talk of those ideals with little to no connection to actionable policies, or policies that are sustainable without creating other unintended consequences. Worse yet, extreme policies can backfire and actually end up making the conditions of economic inequity even worse.

Philadelphia doesn't need lofty rhetoric, just like it didn't need a completely indifferent and effectively useless Mayor in Kenney. It needs a dedicated public servant that gets back to the basics of making Philadelphia as livable, functional, and desirable as possible on a day-to-day basis for everyone across all neighborhoods.

Center-left governance is the sweet spot for Philadelphia. It doesn't need Trotsky reincarnated.

Thank you. I know I stuff a lot of my posts full of hyperbole (I enjoy arguing on the internet, but I think you guys know that ).

100% agree. I call it "treating Philadelphia like any other place." Stop acting like we need to reinvent the wheel on society for so many issues. We desperately need more pragmatism, common sense, and practicality. Rhynhart's record was good in showing the willingness to put the city first even if it's decisions that make some people upset. That's why I'm voting for her.
