Folks, you've given me a wealth of information and I really appreciate it. We'll see what we see and if I land the job, I'll certainly post it! Thanks, everyone, and happy autumn!

The posters give you all great options, but I think I'd stay away from Cheltenham mostly due to the tax rate compared to both Abington and Springfield. There are great homes in all of the locations recommended, all with easy commutes and pretty good school districts. I'm a teacher in the area and have contacts in 3 of 4 main places people told you, so I can recommend all of them but again of those 4, Cheltenham probably has the "lowest ranking", whereas as recently as 2 years ago, Springfield (Montgomery Cty) sent 100% of their Seniors to university.

The taxes are definitely higher in Cheltenham, but I also don't think there's much (if any) substantive difference in educational quality between the four aforementioned school districts.

Speaking of Abington, it was just named one of the 100 best places to live in the USA by Money magazine

Definitely give Springfield Township a look. The district has a good reputation for working with children who have an IEP (not sure whether your daughter does or not). I have a friend who lives within walking distance of Springfield High School and has a child, not high school age yet, who has ADHD. He's been happy so far with his children's experiences in elementary and middle school in the 4 years they've lived in the district. Obviously a small sample size so take it FWIW. Taxes are lower than Cheltenham, you can find a house in your price range and you would have a very easy commute to work. Good luck with your search.

Abington probably has the best balance of the four places I previously mentioned.

One good thing about Cheltenham is some great housing stock which seems to be a little less expensive then Abington, particularly at the upper end of the scale.

For what it's worth, a real estate search for 19038 will return properties in Cheltenham, Springfield, and Abington townships.

The Elkins Park zip code crosses over into Abington as well, and a tiny part of the Abington zip code is in Upper Dublin.
