I am originally from San Diego and living in Manyunk right now and trying to get into the city.

I looked at a place at 14th and Snyder and really liked it. It's a little further south than I would have originally liked, but I like the apt a lot.

Any thoughts on the location?
Parking (unfortunately have to drive to work), proximity to interesting spots, accessibility to public transit, friendliness of people, safety, etc.?

I like beer, food, music, running, cycling, and wandering around the city.

Any insight would be appreciated.

You're right near South Philly High which could cause some annoyances. Broad St is a little bit seedier down there. I use the Snyder stop on occasion and there's some good restaurants in the area and I've never had any trouble myself when I'm there though. I would say with a moderate level of streetsmarts you'd be ok, especially since the dangerous areas in Point Breeze are easily avoidable, and the seedier areas around Broad are at least well lit and high traffic. You also have easy access to the subway which is great, and you're in proximity to some other really great parts of the city. If you go east of Broad you're in East Passyunk which has a lot of good eateries. Farther up Passyunk from there is Bella Vista and the Italian Market and if you keep heading north you'll eventually come to Queen Village and South St. It's a pretty easy bike ride too.

It's not too dangerous, but you're bordering on some dangerous areas.

You'd probably want to be closer to the area known as "Passyunk Square" as far as living arrangements go. It's a decent area, but Snyder Ave has been known to be a problem area. But it's still mostly a livable area. Stay far away from Point Breeze, which is further west.
