hmmmm....1 million today isn't *that much*, but still a chunk of change....(crazy, but, unfortunately true) But, it would allow me to

---sell my CA home to move to my TX home, without worrying about the market +/- that has been plaguing the CA area for the last year plus...

---buy some rental properties, close to where we would be TX..(yep, I STILL believe the best investment is real estate...unlike stocks, it can never be worth zero..)

---BEGIN to relax and let the good times roll....still some wrinkles, but a very good beginning....

Darlin' you would have some serious competition....amazing as it may seem, there have been a few others with your ideas before you.....for centuries...

but I know you are really kidding..

Wouldn't it be great to have the "problem" of an "extra" million??

I think with the current financial situation at hand, it is fun, if not stress relieving, to allow ourselves the fantasy of a what if.....

and if DH would just pick the right lottery numbers.......

Default Help Duaghter

I would help my daughter who is a single mother of two and trying so hard to finish college to be a teacher.
Right now she can't hardly pay her rent or keep her car going. I would love to win a million. We were helping her than her dad broke his leg in 2 places and can't work right now. But I know there has to be a miracle on the way.

Oh my goodness I wish she would win a million Lord knows she deserves it.

A million would also allow me to pay off my current house and move to TX and buy another house (cash up front) without having to worry as well.

I could pay off my credit cards, cars and pay for my husband to go to college.

I would also probably buy a nice little 13k travel trailer and a nice boat so I could enjoy some really fun vacations!

I would then put the rest in a really safe and conservative place to collect intrest until I retire (in 42 years.)

Anyone with a million to spend send me a pm and I'll let you know my address.

Add it to my exisiting savings and possibly retire WAY early or work part-time.
Taking extended family on a trip and increasing charitable contributions would also be nice.
Then re-read BeeKeeper's posts and get some GREAT ideas on how to lower expenses.
Given the current ROI, I would also see if it is worth paying off the only debt I have-my house.
Oh, and I would trade in the repair-prone Nickel&Daimler Dodge Van my wife has and let her get something newer and I would trade my Mini-van for something newer as well. Still probably wouldn't be new, I still want to live frugally not like a "Millionaire".

I'd put it into accounts not in the markets with guaranteed returns for retirement pruposes. In this environemt I would not risk it in the markets at all. I wouldn't have to pay off much because I don't owe much.

I would get a shave, a haircut, some fancy clothes, and go over to M.L.'s Sex Business and spend it all.
