so i posted a similar thread in the real estate FC section...no luck tho.
long story short...
divorce
foreclosure
I have a 2nd mortgage with same lender (portfolio lender no less) that is $6785. Just got word that they retain the loan but turn collection over to an agency.
Anyone have experience negotiating with either (1) a portfolio lender and/or (2) a collection agency to pay the debt?
In this case, I would make an offer for a certain fraction/percentage to close the debt collection case...or is it more likely they will want full payment (plus fines, fees, etc) and just go to court if I refuse?
