You need to give a little more information on why you are looking for a debt consolidation services. A lot of these companies are scams and you can usually do the same thing yourself, it just depends on your reasoning. Are you trying to lower the amount owed to your lenders?

Yes ma'am,
Our credit card bills have gotten to be too much since I had to switch jobs due to a layoff. I'd like to consolidate them so they won't eat up so much of our income.

Get on the "total money makeover" by dave ramsey. He has a good way to get out of debt that you may want to consider.

I called a handful of these places a few years ago when my husband and I were feeling some intense financial strain. We didn't find a single one that didn't require hundreds of dollars in fees. Our luck eventually turned around and we are getting our debt down on our own, but I do remember stumbling across either non-profit or government owned credit counseling services that seemed promising. I don't know if they would be able to put pressure on your creditors or consolidate your loans, but it may be something to look into.

Seems anytime someone is trying to " sell " you something, that may be a scam, they do so with their first post on city-data

]Rather than start a new thread, I did a search & decided to add to this already exisating thread.[/SIZE]
Are there any debt consolidation services than aren't scams? Have you or anyone you know used one? Was the outcome positive? I looked up a company called Lower My Bills w/ the BBB & although they gave it an A+ rating, there are reviews that are all negative. It's been said that the company doesn't provide help, yet they ask for all this personal info to sell to other companies or to do fraudulent things. Plus there were 82 complaints, so I have no idea how the BBB gives it an A+ rating.
