Hi--I'm interested in a house in PA that is very close to the downtown Trenton train station, last stop on the northeast corridor line.

Can that train station be used to commute to Newark? Can I park my car there and travel to work every day? Do people who live nearby do that? Or is it too unsafe? I'll ask the police too, but does anyone have any insight?

thank you so much for your help.

Yes, Yes, and you should be safe in downtown Trenton around the train station.

I take the train from Trenton to D.C. about once a month and sometimes see more PA plates than Jersey plates on cars in the garage. Lots of folks drive over from Bucks County to take the train from Trenton. There are two huge garages which helps a lot. It's a very well lit and well traveled station so there's not much to worry about in terms of safety.

Its definitely a commute many people do, but I'd recommend thinking about leaving from Hamilton station instead of Trenton if you are concerned about safety. Its much more friendly to commuters worried about safety and only about 5 minutes from the Trenton station. Its the second stop on the line and if a train (that is not Amtrak) stops in Trenton, it stops in Hamilton, so you aren't cutting down on frequency of trains.
