Look how quickly Philadelphia's zip are increasing in Median Household Income. It's reflective of the change in the city. There are a few zips in the Northeast and Northwest that have dropped in Median Household Income... most of the rest of the city has increased.

I'll have to check and confirm, but I have a feeling there's little to no statistical difference for most of these zip codes. Since the region is mostly composed of smaller postal delivery zones, the margin for error is high.

Median household income also only tells part of the story. While it's by no means poor, 19066/Merion Station is not on the same plane as 19085/Villanova, which is still on a different level from 19035/Gladwyne. The most affluent communities tend to have extreme income distribution skews above the median, making per capita/mean income important additional measures.

Incidentally, Pittsburgh area zip codes, which tend to be large and cover multiple municipalities, are a poor measure of the region's ground level affluence. This is somewhat ironic since Pittsburgh has a lot more municipal fragmentation.

I live in Pittsburgh and I find it quite interesting how much higher than the county and city average the income for people under 25 is in my zip code. My zip code does also have higher overall incomes compared to the city but less than the county as a whole. That could change in a few years though.

Funny how the zip code where my house is located only has half the median income of the no-delivery zip code where my PO box is.
