Just my own opinion, but this seems to me to be getting a little too local for this discussion.

The largest employer in the state Pennsylvania teams up with the largest enterprise applications developer. For Medical Healthcare AI, and will be centered in the Burgh. This could be significant.

UPMC, Microsoft announce strategic partnership

"The partnership will result in some new companies and new products being created and concocted here in Pittsburgh over the next six months or so," he said.

"We are incredibly energized about the opportunities to make a difference in health care with a leading provider and payor like UPMC," said Peter Lee, corporate vice president of Microsoft Research and leader of Microsoft’s New Experiences and Technologies (NExT) organization, in a statement. "This will be the first significant partnership in a new initiative that Microsoft is calling Healthcare NExT, which will deeply integrate greenfield research and health technology product development. Through these collaborations between health care partners and Microsoft’s AI and Research organization, our goal is to enable a new wave of innovation and impact."

UPMC, tech giant Microsoft unveil partnership

Microsoft has an office on the North Side and Mr. Heppenstall said UPMC is “doing our best” to convince the Redmond, Washington-based company to enlarge its presence in the city. He declined to say how many employees would be involved in the research partnership, which he described as multi-year.

“It’s going to be an awfully exciting effort,” Mr. Heppenstall said.

LOL ...1)NYC doesn't have much of presence in the way of AI technology, which Pittsburgh is already a center for. 2) Seattle is the HQ of Microsoft not NYC.

Don't play that condescending game, it will make me question your intelligence even more.

YOU are well aware that Philadelphia is a major hub for higher education, health care and biotechnology; more so than Pittsburgh. The city also has a very strong presence in manufacturing, oil refining, food processing, telecommunications (quickly growing), tourism and financial and legal services.

Pittsburgh has its strong industries as well, but you can drop the jealously act, because YOU are the only person on this board from either city who does not have a positive thing to say about Philadelphia and you will not admit that its a major economic player in the country and world, much more than Pittsburgh is. ITS FACTS, NOT ALTERNATIVE FACTS.

Until you can post rational arguments for both cities I will continue to post on here, and respond to your nonsense.

I'm not, I was being totally serious, I really see Pittsburgh replacing NYC as the Alpha+++ city of the US, probably within the next 10 years.

You don't know much do you .... Yes Philly has a presence in those areas, but its hardly "a hub", and definitely DOES NOT blow Pittsburgh away.

Higher Education - CMU is doing more for Pittsburgh alone than anyone of 1 Philly schools are doing for Philly. Pittsburgh has a higher % of people living in the city with a Post-HS education degree than Philadelphia does.

Health Care - Sorry, another "doesn't blow Pittsburgh away" UPMC is a Monster, its the largest Employer in the state, its reach has expanded beyond the state of Pennsylvania into NYS. Pittsburgh, Boston, Baltimore, Cleveland are all tops in this area.

Biotechnology - It's hardly making a name for Philly, its a very crowded field and Philly is not in the cream of the crop.

Again, nothing you listed are industries in which Philly is becoming a Central Hub for.

You get more annoying everyday. Always trying to play up Pittsburgh, and crap on Philadelphia. How can you say Philadelphia is not in the cream of the crop for Biotech, and then post a link which ranks Philadelphia 8th? In fact, if you combined San Francisco and Oakland (which are the same Metro area), Philadelphia ranks 7th. Lol.

I already proved to you that Philadelphia ranks in the top 10 or 20 cities in the US for EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY or industry. Simply scroll back through the pages of this very thread to see. Philadelphia is like Chicago, in that is has a very diversified economy. Philadelphia is A LEADER in the Medical, Educational and Pharmaceutical fields.

Philadelphia has a lot going for it, and has already positioned itself into being an economic powerhouse a while ago. Hence why it has one of the largest GDP and economies in the country:

You would be a fool to think CMU is doing more for Pittsburgh than Drexel or UPenn are doing for Philadelphia. Penn is building things left and right, and their Medical division continues to be a world leader. On top of that, they just started the build out of their Pennovation Center:
https://www.pennovation.upenn.edu/

Drexel, meanwhile, aside from building their own projects, has partnered with the University City Science Center for the build out of a FULL campus of highrise office, lab, and residential buildings which has already attracted the likes of Microsoft and the Cambridge Innovation Center:
uCity Square – A Community Fueled by Connectivity

On top of that, Drexel has partnered with Brandywine Realty Trust to build out the area around 30th Street Station, to also include office, lab, hotel and residential buildings:

Does your trolling know no bounds? It's amazing how one sided and ridiculous you continue to be.
