I am looking to move to the Spring Grove area with my son who has autism. Right now,my town pays to send him to a private school out of district that can meet his needs. Does Pennsylvania do the same? In new jersey our taxes are over $11,000 a year and I know that PA isn't as bad so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. Do they bus the kids?

Any if is appreciated

You will have to check with Spring Grove School district. They may offer services or you may be serviced by the Intermediate Unit (Lincoln Intermediate Unit #11 services York and Adams County). Some districts have in house classrooms, others will provide 1 on 1 paraprofessional and others are serviced by IU professionals either within the home district buildings or in a sending district. It will depend on where your son is on the spectrum and his IEP. The first place to start checking is Spring Grove School District department of Pupil Personnel Services, they'll either answer your questions or have you contact someone at the LIU in New Oxford. They most likely will provide transportation, unless the school he will attend will be within walking distance of your residence, again, the school district can answer this question for you.

I imagine he would be re-evaluated and recommendations made, but yes, federal law mandates that every child that has special needs has those needs met by the local school district. We do not have equitable school funding in PA, so generally the better the school district, the higher the taxes. Not sure what you are asking regarding busing kids.
