Re-do kindergarten for a child with "no confidence?"

oh, and even the size thing made a difference, they were all at the short end of the hieght scale and for boys this made a HUGE difference, as minor as it may seem. The added year and height was where they fit in best physically, too, otherwise they'd have been fighting that the whole time through middle school and high school too.
My daughter was skipped to first grade because of her academics ability. After several weeks, I as well as her teacher noticed that she was not mature enough to stay in first grade. I had the school place her back in kindergarten so that she could socially adapt. It was an easy year for her learning curve, but it afforded her the steps necessary to grow. Going back a grade did not stop her learning, her level of learning was that of a 2nd grader. I still taught her at home to keep her stimulated. I believe this was in the best interest of her education. Today, we are proud parents of a truly gifted teenager.
