My daughter brought this to my attention and I think it is a good thing to pass along. I just used it to locate the offenders in my neighborhood faster than the State sight does..

This is an excellent website. It was started by John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted. You can put in an address anywhere in the US and it will show you the criminals that live and work around you. If you have children or grandchildren, I highly recommend this website.Type in youraddress to find the offenders near your home..National Sex Offender Registry

Why are there so many sickos out there? If you click on the red squares, it brings up a photo of the offender and a lot of them look like normal people, which makes it even scarier.

It is really scary in a rural area and small town like I live in when you actually recognize the pervs

I live in a rural town and it is kinda scary. That site dosent show anybody in my town. The New Mexico site shows three people, one is incarcerated (sp). One of the sex offenders was convited of "Criminal Sexual Contact Of A Minor" and he is well, married to his "victim" with two (possibly three) children. He was two years older and her parents got ticked at the relationship and got him done, now hes on the list for life pretty much. Moral of the story is do some research on the ones that are in your neighborhood before you just to conclusions. But do protect the kids.

I agree Brian
I was searching sex offender site and the address came up three houses down from where I use to live. My neice and her 3 sons live there now so I inquired further. Turned out to be a young woman who had a fling with a 17 yr. old. I would'nt consider her a threat or pedophile. Maybe a horn dog that makes bad decisions, anyway she will be labeled a sexual predator for the rest of her life.

I would like to add not all the convicted sex offenders are posted. They have different levels or tiers for the offense. Many times as part of a plea bargain they plea to reduced charges so now they don't make the registry. Be careful because you really don't know some of your neighbors.

Before you get paranoid, just remember that something as stupid and simple as peeing outside in public, or walking around naked inside your own house can get you onto the sex offender registry. Which is ridiculous as far as I'm concerned.

So you can see my point...there are a lot of people on the sex offender registry who really don't belong there. There are also a lot of them who do. Unfortunately, merely looking at the registry doesn't tell you which is which.
