Is 2 years old too early. She turns 3 in late December. She reminds me about myself. I have always been shy. I have a nice voice but never used it. My daughter, even though she is only 2.5 , just starts to sing and dance any time she hears music, she has great rhythm too. I want to do something for her but not sure if it's too early. Any thoughts?

Most toddlers are not "mature" enough for structured classes at this age. My granddaughter didn't start til she was 5, and even then, it was an issue getting her to pay attention.

Exactly. I have been coaching the same group of kids in Little League for 5 years. They are all now 11-12 and a great group of kids, but back when they were 6 and 7 they couldn't stay in the field more than 5 minutes without getting antsy, playing with the grass, etc... I cannot imagine a 2 year old could handle a structured class or even understand what is going on. It's great she loves music and loves to dance (in fact most kids do) but I wouldn't waste money on an actual class at this point. Just my opinion.

What 2 year old doesn't like to dance around? Turn your radio on and dance in your living room.

Sounds like an every day run of the mill 2 year old.

Don't just push girls to do dance and other girlie things because you want it or because of the equipment between her legs or because she is like every other 2 year old out there and likes music and bops to the beat.

No...

VTGal, I don't think my daughter has a special gift...

And to the rest of you who asking,

I am not pushing her to do anything.

Even though it seems most of the posters who've responded disagree, I stand by my original response. I highly suggest you try to find an age appropriate dance class or music appreciation class for her. She is not too young for a "formalized" class as long as it is tailored to her age group. At the very least, get involved with the storytimes at your local library. Good luck & have fun! They're only toddlers for a short time

I'm not looking for her to do anything she don't want to do. I would like to encourage her to do something I never did. If she don't like it we stop. Thank you FromCTtoFlorida.

Just as easily as you posted your question you could google "dance lessons in my area." Every dance studio advertises the age group they teach. No big deal.
