Is anybody surprised by this? It happens from early childhood all through adulthood although it might not be as overt in adulthood but it certainly does happen.

I'm not surprised. The majority of bullies in my childhood and my children's childhood were very large children. I only knew two scrawny bullies--one from my childhood and one from my children's.

Not to surprised here either...you are either going to be the victimized slovenly fat kid or you are going to be the tough, husky bully who call the shots.

Which would you choose (keep in mind these are 6 year olds).

Correlation does not equal causation. Sometimes the "little guy" is a bully.

As Katain said...correlation dies not equal causation. Plenty of fat kids are the victims of bullies. ....especially girls.

Doesn't surprise me with respect to bullying that involves physical acts. With emotional types of bullying I think the makeup of the bullying kid and adult would be very different.

I would think the overweight kids would more than likely be the victim instead of instigators of bullying.

I'm sure it starts out that way. They turn to bullying in frustration because of what they've experienced.

I don't think heavier kids are any more likely to bully otherwise.

I would choose not to hear a child described as slovenly.

yeah, what's up with that? There are many overweight people both kids and adult to take extra care to look clean and neat. Being a slob has nothing to do with size. Slovenly means messy and dirty- plenty of skinny folks old and young fit that category.
