The best responses here have occurred multiple times: If you are concerned, consult a medical doctor specialising in childhood development. Local doctors and school psychologists will most likely know who is available in your area.

The parent has autism. Asperger's is highly genetic. I don't think this is quite a stretch, as it is currently being underdiagnosed.
