I also forgot that we too involve the kids in everything we do as well such as gardening, cooking, house repairs and upgrading our computers/cars. Kids know where the oil stick is, how to install RAM sticks, unclog a kitchen sink etc.

Thanks for the comments - a lot of good ideas!

I also like the idea of "hands on" - letting them learn as they experience.
Still, I also realize that before anything happens, it first has to be thought of - & generally my kids are more excited if it was their idea - or at least they had some input.

There's so much to teach!
Parenting is really non-stop teaching - about laundry, cars, cleaning, house repairs, pet care, chores, homework... etc.

OP you sound like a very hard working parent. I wonder how many parents teach their kids home and auto things past laundry and cooking?
I knew how do the simple laundry/cooking but repairs or auto things were left to the professionals and still are today
