My kids (ages 6, 3, 1) go to bed at 7pm. The 1 year old goes right to sleep, the 3 and 6 year old read for 20-30 minutes.
Wife and I sleep at 10pm.
We all arise at 6-6:30am.
Works great, I can't imagine a better schedule for us.

Am I just going crazy or is that SUPER early? That's almost unfathomable to me.

When I was little we normally ate dinner at 6:30 or 7. How does this kid even have a chance to do his homework?
Yeah that seems way too early to me, unless they have to get up really early for some reason. I had a friend who had to go to bed at that hour in school.

I guess I would ask myself if the child is well rested and ready for his day? If so, who cares?

That's early but my kids were in the habit of retiring to their rooms at about this time, for quiet time if not bed.

My kids loved their beds, loved sleeping, were never up at night or anything. They used to want to go to bed.

If they have a nice bath (at that age, lots of fun), clean pjs, a story, then they usually would want to be carried to bed anyway.

They seemed to like it, they still do. Heck, I like it. I'd love to be carried to bed some nights.

DS, always a great sleeper. I would put him to bed around 7-730 and he slept til 630 or 7AM.

I think it depends on the child. Some kids need more sleep some less. No hard fast rule. I like that he went to bed early, being a SAHM it would give DS & I some time alone in the evenings.

DS always had a routine, bath, books, bed. When he got a little older it was bath, quiet time in his room, books then bed.

I agree with all those who say if it works for that child, do it. Nothing more to say.

I find this offensive. I love my kids and do what I think is best for them. I would never suggest that someone who keeps their child up late is neglectful so please let's not assume that I'm trying to avoid my family.
