No other Star Trek fans here? Wesley makes me think of the awesome Wil Wheaton.

Of your choices, I like Evelyn (nickname Evie) and Mary for girls and Irvin (nickname Irv) for a boy. I also like Erwin for a boy - have you thought of that? I have always liked old-fashioned names though. I picked a bunch of old-fashioned names like this for my kids and was vetoed by my SO.

I really wanted Augusta (nickname Gus) as a name for my son, but my SO hated that. Gus and Irv are old-man sounding names... LOL... But I like them. Another classic name that I like for a boy is Elliot, but it is rather soft-sounding (like Wesley), so a lot of men (including my hubby) may not like it for their sons.

Well...thanks to this overly obnoxious child at the park with her super snotty mom screaming her name over and over, Evelyn is out! lol

As an update,
Our list has diminished down to

Girl: Lindsay, Savannah, Lillian (Lily), Elizabeth (a new addition) and
Boy: William, Calvin, Isaac

thanks to my grandmaw's advise of repeating the potential names out loud and writing them down repeatedly and seeing if you still like them =) Oh and thanks to the Charlotte the harlot posting...I cant get that out of my mind every time I say the name

Elizabeth is a great choice. If it turns out that there are lots of little Elizabeths who are the same age as your Elizabeth, you can go for a nickname: Liza, Lisa, Beth, Ellie, Eliza, Betsy, Lissy, Lizzie, Elspeth, Bess - I can think of no other female name for which there are so many nicknames.

The formal name has a great deal of dignity and history associated with it as well. I think it's by far the best of the girls' names you've listed.

Calvin is a super awful name, so do choose that. It sounds like a janitor.
Have you considered all the family names on both sides? I noticed, as I researched our family on Ancestry, that the same names kept being recycled. It makes me happy to think I was named after a great grandmother....makes me feel connected to what came before.
In this modern, fast moving world, it would be nice to connect your child with its heritage by a name that a relative had.

Lillian (Lily) is the only classic name that is unique to me. Lindsay and Elizabeth are overdone. Savannah reminds me of people who name their children after places, like Paris Hilton.

I still like William the best. I don't like Calvin at all. Maybe it's the underwear ads. Maybe it's Calvinism. Maybe it's the cartoon. Isaac is a nice name. Are you aware it's Hebrew? I like the nickname Isi.

Consider:

William Isaac Boss

Isaac William Boss

Lillian Elizabeth Boss

Elizabeth Lillian Boss

They're all "Liz" and/or "Lizzie" today. Prior to that they were all "Beth". Some young girls used to get called "Betsy" for a while. Then there's "Betty".

It seems that Ellie is usually a stand-alone name, at least at my office.
