We were lucky. My husband taught school and had summers off...he was great with our daughter. As she got older we also incorporated some day camps and a couple of sleep away camps to give him a break. My parents also watched her one day a week. We were very lucky...and so was she.

Having been widowed when my child was very young I had no choice other than finding childcare. During the summer I used a church day camp. I don't recall how much it cost, but it was not too bad.
When my kids were very young, it was a combination of both grandmoms...which was great.
As they got older, we mixed in a few weeks of camp, just to break things up.
Now they are teenagers and are home alone
