I think we have just so much space available, especially for names and faces. Occasionally someone walks up to me, says "Hello" and calls me by name and asks about my daughter by name, too. I just stare at them thinking "I have never seen this person before in my life--how do they know who I am and what my kid's name is?????" Of course, I chat merrily and pretend I know who they are.

Most of the time, a hazy memory of having known the person...somewhere...floats in a little while later, but I don't always remember how I know them or what their name is.

LOL. One of the late night shows last night had on a team of kids who had gone out and talked to people and gotten information (they gave away some kind of coupon or something for the interview). Then they had another person pretend to be someone from their past and tried to see if the person they interviewed would lie for them or do something crazy with them. Most went for it and thought they actually knew the person even though it was all a lie.

It's ok. Today I sat here at the computer for a full 2 or 3 minutes and could NOT remember the first three numbers of my SS# which I have, of course, had memorized since I first started working as a teen! It was awful.
