The OP says she's working very few hours and doesn't have a lot of extra bucks floating around. Others have (very wisely) suggested she look into government programs, etc. to help her out, while yet others have suggested that she not put the father's name on the birth certificate.
I know absolutely nothing about welfare requirements, etc., but it seems to me that the government would make it mandatory that anyone seeking taxpayer assistance SHOULD name both parties and the father should be required to pay child support. I'm not against helping, it's not the baby's fault, but the parents should be invested in this baby first before any taxpayer.
