She calls out for her mother because she is suffering.

She doesn't fall back asleep because she has a medical condition that is causing her extreme discomfort and perhaps even pain.

You asked for the best way to deal with a 3 year old who wakes you up. The REASON she wakes you up is her Restless Legs Syndrome. Take her to the doctor and get her help.

I agree. Take her to her doctor and tell him/her about her behavior and schedule to help make an appropriate diagnosis and to perscribe the correct medication.

Deez Nuttz...almost sounded like you were talking about my grand daughter.....same problem there...nothing seemed to work....I suggested putting a little matress on the floor next to the adult bed....my daughter resisted that idea....she wanted the child to learn to sleep in her own room...whatever...guess what....no more parents getting woke up in the middle of the night....if the little gal wakes up she just crawls into her own little bed next to mom and dads and goes right back to sleep.....not the best idea....but when mom needs her sleep...whatever works...right?
