With smoking being against the law in so many public places, many people are smoking more in their homes and cars and our kids are suffering. I believe we should be allowed to use our property as we see fit Within the law but I've always wondered how kids in cars must be suffering. I also remember as teens, my friends and I couldn't wait to get in our cars to light up. And this was decades ago.
Do you have any rules about letting your kids be in cars with other smokers?
I have a big issue with kids being in a smoke filled car since I was subjected to long car rides in my grandparents' car filled with smoke on a pretty frequent basis. Nothing more disgusting to sit in a haze of smoke, looking out grimy smoke coated windows. This pretty much convinced me never to smoke since I would actually get nautious at the end of a long car ride....shudders.
It is amazing how many people I do see puffing away with kids sitting in the back.
Anyone who drove my kids knew it was an issue for us for health reasons. Everyone respected it and wouldn't have thought of smoking while they were around.

Way to make a mountain out of a molehill. Your kid is not going to be adversely affected by going over to a friends house who's parents smoke. Or occasionaly riding in their car. Get a grip on reality.
You are doing much more harm by being ridiculously overprotective

Do you have a child with a chronic long-term lung disease?

Seriously? Having dealt with asthmatic children ( which are pretty common these days), yeah I have a problem with it.
Best case scenario would have my kids barf all over your back seat. It's been known to happen even without smoke.
