I concur with the rest of the posters. You need to spend time with your family and friends outside the computer. They will give you more freedom when you show that you appreciate them. Getting good grades doesn't give you the relationship with your family. One day they won't be here and then you just might regret those times....besides you'll be off to college soon enough, perhaps that is another reason why they want time with you. IMO if I had a child your age, they wouldn't even have their own computer!

i was a lot like you when i was that age. i was on the computer all of the time. of course, this was the early days of the internet. my computer was 25mhz with 4mb ram, but i could still connect to IRC. before we had internet, i'd spend hours on the local bulletin board system, playing text-based games. he dragged me to church so he got that time with me. but i was on the computer for all of my free time. part of it was that spending time with my dad was unbearable. i have a somewhat compulsive personality, where i will spend hours on end on some activity. my dad would yell at me and make me feel guilty for how i spent my time.

i think your parents should leave you alone.

Come up with a compromise and negotiate w/ them. What do they want from you? Try to do some of that. If it's something like spending time with them, say i'll spend this time with you from this hour to this hour. And spend another set of hours doing your own thing.

I like to have friends over but their usually my best 3 friends. Rarely do they let me do that because they dont like it when I stay in my room and hang out! Is this normal and is there anything I can do to make this stop? Thanks, Chris
