Recently here in Denver, Colorado
A young girl who was 16 was murdered..The murder was very brutal.
She was 16..Alicia Martinez..Some of you may have heard about it.
She was murdered exactly 2 blocks from where my sons live with their dad. My sons are 15 and 17.
I didnt know the girl..But it hurts me so much..I have cried for her and her family..
I am so angry how this man could take away a beautiful girl when her life was just begining to live.
Lets tell our children we love them everyday..

I totally understand how you're feeling.

I'm a reporter and I cover the local courthouse. During the past few weeks I've written about:
  1. A grandmother who gave her 4-month-old grandson a fatal dose of prescription drugs to "keep him quiet for a few hours."
  2. A father who sadistically sexually assaulted his teenage daughter for several hours and blamed it on the fact that he'd "had about 20 beers."
  3. An adoptive father who raped a teenage girl he had adopted from Eastern Europe because "she was having sex with her 25-year-old nanny anyway."
These crimes all took place in small, rural towns. I can't imagine the horrors I'd have to write about if I worked for a large metro paper.
