I was very young when I had my first child (19). I took the fall semester off of college, went back in the spring and placed him in daycare. I was also nursing him. I'm a Latina and his father is black. He was born with birthmarks on his back called Mongolian spots. They're usually on an infants back and legs and resemble bruises. They're also typical in black children. The woman who ran the daycare called DCF on me because she said my son had bruises all over his back. She told me how she understood how hard it was being a new young mother and how easy it may be to take my frustrations out on him. I was appalled that she would think such a thing and could be so uneducated with this matter as a person running a daycare! When the social work came to talk to me and had all the necessary paperwork from my pediatrician they ended up closing the case.

Needless to say, I took him out of that daycare.

The Daycare by law had to cover themselves and thus they did the right thing. I know it sucks, but this is the world we live in. Better safe than sorry. The thing to remember is you can't get upset during the investigation, because thats when the moutain is made out of a molehill.
