Good luck Mike. Go in with a positive attitude and everything will work out fine.
When mine were taken out they used sodium pentathol (truth serum). I went out like a light, had no pain at all and they said I cussed up a storm while under the drug.

Praying all goes well for ya, Mike. Too late for this advice, but I do advise people to be sure and use an oral surgeon for this, not a regular dentist. Just my opinion that things usually go better that way if things get complicated.

Sending you good wishes. Rest, eat ice cream, and watch movies all day. But don't watch Castaway!

Oh man, that sucks. My SO had his pulled a few months ago. He said the pain meds they gave him kicked butt! Especially the Motrin. He hardly touched the hydros they gave him.
The nurse gave us a little kit in a bag in the recovery room and explained everything to us, which as which prescription was for what (make sure you take ALL of the penecillin/antibiotic or whatever they give you), how to work the ice pack and what the little plastic syringe was for, as well as the can and can-nots as far as food went. There was an instruction sheet in the kit too though.
(The nurse was so nice she even gave me directions on how to get back onto the main highway since the directions we got offline got us lost on the way there.)

Like the others said, just take it easy for a day or two. Have some jello and ice cream waiting for you when you get home.
