"Government" is an insatiable money hog. Politicians, especially at the federal level, become addicted to the unlimited flow of tax dollars into their coffers. For them, the longer they stay in Washington, "too much is never enough" becomes part of their DNA.
That post has been going around the world in syndicated emails for 10 years now. Last time I read it on here some one posted that the politicians have not figured out how to tax us taking a crap yet. I responded: "oh yes they did, we pay sewer taxes as part of our property tax bill"
The list is long and sounds bad,, but every dime helps to provide the services that we get. What tax and service do we NOT want? There’s no free lunch ~ someone has to pay and if you’re using the service you pay the tax. I don’t have a dog so I don’t pay the tax but not for that reason. I didn’t travel by plane this past year,,, so I didn’t pay that tax, my elderly 90 year old mother in law doesn’t own a car any more and she doesn’t pay the taxes for vehicles.
Do I want schools,, yes and I’ll pay the tax. Do I want my property,, yes I’ll pay the tax. Do I own a recreational vehicle, no and I don’t pay the tax.
Remember too, that if we don’t like something we have the right to go to our elected officials and talk with them. I write weekly to mine, and call at times. I’ve been to more meetings with our local government people and talked about issues, some are resolved and some are not. But I communicate with them, even the ones I didn’t vote for,,,,,, they are my representatives. I hire and fire by my vote, my tax dollar allows me to.
Remember there's NO FREE LUNCH! You use it you pay for it.
Add up all of the taxes you pay, now add to that all of the costs for medical that didn’t or wasn’t covered by health insurance, add to this the cost of your insurance or that which you employer pays for you, for me it’s a big amount! Yet that is by percentage less then the cost of living in a European country that pays 40, 50 or 60% of their wages per year to receive the same benefits.
Don’t get me wrong I dislike insurance companies and I dislike paying for those items that will not be covered by (and should) insurance companies but my tax dollars out plus my medical coverage is still less then that of other nations.
