Every spring my favorite books are the seed catalogs showing off the new veggie varieties.

Reading is a forum of travel, and no matter what book you read, no passport or visa or Airport TSA guards is required. Free to roam anywhere.

I have this ritual of packing any number of juicey, meaty books into my travel bag, fearful I'll get bored somewhere on my travels, then I sink my teeth into a good book which I can't set down for a minute, then bemoan later all the money I spent, whereas I could have done that back home in the comfort of my sofa.

And, if I can't read a book while eating, then I simply don't eat. No point in trying to sell my books to a used book store, they won't accept them with
food stains and pages stuck together. So then there's only one route left for them to go: Salvation Army!

And the memorable books I keep, and keep, and keep, thinking one day I'll want to reread them. If I keep them long enough, with a failed memory, I'll finally pick one of those books up, read it, and proclaim: Damn! How long has that book been hiding from me on that bookshelf and I failed to read it before!
