My thought is that trials and tough times help an individual grow and learn so they can do a better job in the future. If we don't face difficult tasks, we have nothing to learn by.
This is close to the phrase "I can't get a job without experience, and I can't get experience without a job." Today's proverb is the sailor version....minus the profanity. HaHa
