I have a couple of relatives like that and have told them once or twice to "Get to the point......say Yes or No!" because if I didn't, God only knows how long it would take for the answer!
If I give a question that requires a simple "yes" or "no" answer, that is what I want. I don't want all the explanation with it. ONLY if I give a question that requires an explanation is when I want one.
Okay, first I have to bring up Wal-Mart. People complain about Wal-Mart's business practices, saying that they're known for having people work off the clock, and/or unpaid overtime.
Having worked for them before, I'll explain something about that first. Their official policy is "No working off the clock." That being said, they'll give you work that cannot be completed in 8 hours, yet expect you to get it done in 8 hours. You get caught working off the clock, you get fired. If they don't know you're doing it, then they don't know, and they're covered. They don't want to pay for overtime, but the unspoken truth is that if you can't get nine or ten hours of work done in 8 hours, you're just not productive enough.
Fast forward to the present day. I work for another company now that would PREFER that we didn't get any overtime--but if the job requires it, then they're understanding of the need to stay later and complete it. It's still about getting 10 pounds of manure in an 8 pound bag. It's very stressful. I don't like to leave work unfinished, but there are times they'll even tell me--"just leave it". I don't think I'm going in tonight--I'm really sick and tired of the whole ordeal.
Disclaimer: I already have today and tomorrow off. It's the weekend. Hooray!!
<pout> but, but, but...sometimes there's more to it! I'm a detail person and those who love me, love me ramble and all...and those who don't, don't - but might grow to.
